‘Architecture’ without landscape becomes just a building and ‘Landscape’ without architecture becomes wilderness. The relationship between the two is significant yet the two fields neglect each other by thinking architecture as house and landscape as tree. By taking both courses my definition of this relationship can be described as ‘Axes’, Architecture is vertical axis where Landscape is horizontal axis. The horizontal site (background) needs to conjugate with vertical structure (foreground) and the art of this negotiation is where urban design is born.
